It was about workhorse peripherals like tape systems and heavy-duty line printers, essential to the reliable use of information technology in business and industry. Our focus hasn't changed but our abilities have as technology has evolved. Electronic document imaging became viable -- the document peripheral industry exploded.  So we expanded our printer offerings to include optical media and scanners.  Networking grew up -- distributed systems became a reality.  We became experts at integrating those printers (and other peripherals) into large scale, networked environments for the transportation, healthcare, and banking industries.
